Nowadays, we strive to make the world a little better place (more sustainable) for our kids and subsequent generations. We want to be the best alternative and counterweight to all the unnatural and industrial-made balms available in stores all over the globe. Our balm consists of only natural ingredients like beeswax and pure mineral oils, which will preserve, restore and waterproof all your leather goods, whatever the leather grade. It will give back your leather’s original gleam, keep it supple and protect it against the elements that dry and age leather.
The blend we use is much older than we might know, but 1983 is the year this family tradition and the old recipe were put on paper for the first time. This year has a special place in our hearts. To honour this extraordinary year, it is featured on our logo. It also mends to give good fortune to whoever Erwin might use it.
THE BLEND
As we said before, our ingredients are fair, simple, and no secret. We use 100% pure pine oil, almond oil, cacao butter, and organic beeswax.
100% ORGANIC BEESWAX
Beeswax is a natural honey bee wax that is important for our leather balm. It has been used since prehistory as a lubricant and waterproofing agent, as a polish for wood and leather, for making candles and as an ingredient in cosmetics. Beeswax is edible, having similarly negligible toxicity to plant waxes, and is approved for food use in most countries and the European Union under the E number E901. The use of beeswax in skin care and cosmetics has been increasing. A German study found beeswax to be superior to similar barrier creams. Beeswax is used in lip balm, lip gloss, hand creams, salves, and moisturisers. Beeswax is also essential in moustache wax and hair pomades, making hair look sleek and shiny.

100% PURE ALMOND OIL
Almonds are a rich source of oil, with 50% of dry mass. They are also a good source of protein. Almonds are enriched with Vitamins E and A, suitable for skin, hair, and leather. Erwin’s leather balm is a skin nourisher, facilitating skin lightening and tan removal.

100% PURE CACAO BUTTER
Cacao butter is a pale-yellow, edible fat extracted from the cocoa bean. It is used to make chocolate & Erwin’s leather balm. Cocoa butter has a cocoa flavour and aroma. Its melting point is just below the human body temperature. As a non-toxic solid at room temperature that melts at body temperature, it is considered an ideal base for medicinal suppositories. The velvety texture, pleasant fragrance and emollient properties of cocoa butter have made it a popular ingredient in products for the skin, such as soaps and lotions.

100% PURE PINE OIL
Pine oil is also an essential oil in our leather balm. The steam distillation of pine tree stumps, needles, twigs, and cones obtains it. In alternative medicine, it is said to be used in aromatherapy, as a scent in bath oils or, more commonly, as a cleaning product. It may also be used varyingly as a (mildly antiseptic) disinfectant, sanitiser, microbicide, or insecticide.
